in the end these 3 groups of 21's only account for about 1/3 of the traffic to my blog. they're the higher numbers - but plenty of other sources send readers my way. some long time readers of mostbloggers did not even come from one of the sources listed above. so, after the first of the year i'll post a more detailed view of sources for blog readership.
still, if you're not listed or do not know or use any of the services above - i highly recommend them. well, i don't even know what the deal with adjee is? i keep getting visits from them to see why i am sending them traffic i suspect - evidence here. oh well, sub to them here... it's a pay fer site - maybe i subbed them a buck once? i did with some search - and forgot to check the results you could get for a buck - didn't even finish the post on that. hey, if it was them - then it worked ;-)
plus, i will be posting a favorites list - which turns out to be different in some ways from the list above as well.

It is great to know that FyberSearch has been helpful!
I also appreciate the posts you have made about FyberSearch and FeedPlex in the past.
nathan, i have been and will remain a very vocal friend and fan of fybersearch. the latest changes you have made are quite pleasing to the eye and the searcher. though, i think i love your gheto search the best (as of late anyway).
it's quite amazing what a young man can accomplish - you're living proof of how ambition mixed with vision mixed with "sticking with it" is something we should champion and admire in our culture. i noticed that when everyone was talking about comment spam, etc. you just quitely did what all the big dogs copied in short order.
i was trying to explain your search some time ago - how it's been and probably will always be just ahead of the curve with other searches. i have always seen fybersearch as an attempt to make a search engine drill down for you and accomplish automatically what a directory format does laboriously or a google, yahoo, et al., do overboard.
keep improving and above all else keep enjoying what you're doing. it's been enjoyable from the user side. thanks for pushing the bar ... higher!

Hi Amos,
It is great to know how much you think of FyberSearch. GhetoSearch is definitely fun and the new results look much better in my opinion (good thing I am not the only one).
Wow, you actually noticed that FyberSearch was the first one to help with the comment SPAM? I didn’t think that anyone would care after Yahoo, MSN and Google got done heavily promoting their solutions.
You have a great understanding of FyberSearch and my vision for it. Instead of sorting through a few hundred results I would really like to see people find what they are looking for by setting a few advanced features and typing in intelligent queries.
I plan to continue pushing the bar, maybe even to a completely new model for search technology... don’t tell anyone though ;-)
Thanks!

yes, nathan i noticed your comment spam solution being way ahead of the curve. i do not think i am the only one - especially when you look at the "solutions" which the big 3 came out claiming as their own. they were loud and powerful - but what did they offer that you hadn't already said - nada.

i think that's the guts of the challenge you face. my guess is that:
first
people do not "get" the idea of "pre-setting" a few advanced features. think about it. google has tons of powerful advanced settings - and people do not use them for the most part.
second
people struggle with the idea of "intelligent queries." again, i'll just use google, because they're easy to pick on. most people don't even know that they can type in certain characters to hone down or expand their query.
examples: most people don't know they can use several symbols in a google search to either search "and" or "or". they don't know about wildcards or searching in quotes. they do not realize that the pipe symbol is "or" so that one could query either dogs eating cheese or dogs | eating | cheese or dogs -eating +cheese and get different results. some wouldn't even know why one of the queries above only gets 10 results and another 100 results.
and those are easy advanced options and most every search has boolean options which people will never take the time to learn. we live in a "put gas in it and drive" culture/world.
i think
which is just my opinion concerning the two points above [advanced settings and intelligent queries] - that people would be strongly impressed if there was a clean way to show these features in some suggestive upfront manner. not all of them, just a great selection - a "wow" selection.
i saw you trying to do that with you levels of advanced search (not sure you even have that anymore). but, in my thinking there must be some number of suggested options which you could offer to the newbie or novice or willfully set on just using what is offered upfront user which could wow them with percision.
the tough part is making them intutitive and simple (or smooth) aka. do this if you want to get that.
want a hot apple pie with that
one route is to offer an advanced feature in the search. like the suggested spelling or like google is doing when they push their book search in results with a hyperlinked, "want to try your search in google books" or whatever.
if you offer a select "wow" factor number of advanced options at the click of a button upfront (and not a drop down menu) - and then suggest sell the deeper functions with those who use then maybe more people would get the concept.
excuse the ramble - you're way ahead of me in this - but still here's my 2 cents - which you can't even buy a stick of gum with.
1) a few select (smooth and easy) advanced features upfront.
2) suggest sell in results.
3) then, in those results - suggest sell in this fasion, "did you know you can pre-set your searches to easily "do whatever advanced feature the person just used."
anyway, i am sure you hear this kind of garbage from "know it alls" all the time - so please excuse my ramble.
and in the end - many people will simply miss the powerful search features you have offered them - tons which you already have sitting ready to be used at fybersearch.
yes, i do think gheto is fun - and i am always impressed that you are always improving. you have fans out here who enjoy what you are doing - and i want you to know that i am one of them.
i am happy to pimp fybersearch and continue to do so. i am a bit of a search nerd - and my picks for the two most interesting and continuing to do something great searches are yours, fybersearch and eureskster. falling behind you two - it's niche niche niche that appears to be the only other "cutting edge" types out there.
i think i'll do a post on 10 cool searches to watch and to use - of which yours will be right in the pack. i don't think i'll do a ranking - just a look at what nathan and others are doing kind piece. i'll try and let you know when i post it. i'll tag it for you as well.
