so, i end up tonight sitting and watching "nightline" and i cannot remember the host's name ... i just kept thinking, "wasn't this show taken off the air?" and then, not ted koppel (sp?) but wasn't this guy (the host) the one who ambushed michael jackson in that interview? told jackson that he was going to do a nice little bit on michael and then turned it into a "tell all expos´e (how do you get the ´ to go over the e)???
that, family show kid ... kirk cameron and ray comfort (or is that kurt cameron? and ray komfort???) as the christians vs the atheists (she goes by, "kelly" i think) with her friend ... i am sorry i cannot remember his name ... the "blasphemy" website guy (and no i am not using spell checker ... too tired to use ... "google my spell checker" and i don't like to click unused buttons in bloggers...
anyway, i've been reading aquinas (posted that on twitter ... actually i posted the brilliant, "readinf aquinas" - you can find it if you care. and i've spent quite a while with anselm (what kant labeled the ontological argument) - so i found the shows promise of a debate to be worth television watching (not a big habit of mine)... it was alright ... they did show a scant view of both sides and get some points (bad show actually ... though abc graphics ... you rock!!!!) for actually showing an example of real point and counter point in the debate ... which is really, really rare IMHO.
the show? i dunno ... got no love for the host - british tabloidishy IMO, and the tease wasn't delivered too well in the edited version ... you got to deliver something ... which reminds me ... abc had to announce when the end of "lost" would be ... or else no one would be watching the show ... all tease and no play ... i mean week after week. i didn't watch once last year (and the year before it was among the handful of shows i chose to watch) and i only picked the show back up about 3 weeks ago ... and funny thing? i wasn't lost (as to the plot). tease you, quiz you, leave you hanging.
dang, i said, i don't watch much tv - and yet - i am quite jazzed about this thursday night's offering of "traveler." i mean, how can you screw up mixing a buddy theme, with i know what you did last summer, with the fugitive and probably a little 24ish kind of hip or csi styled cool. the name of the who itself is interesting ... makes me think they should just go ahead and make the show, "titor," or however you spell that "john tetter's" name, teter, teeter, titor, i dunno ....
google it ... had to - the time travelor (spelling mistakes ... oh i confess ... i do them to see who will search for what ... sorry).
anyway, can you prove that God exists ... i happen to believe so ... but our western mind - seems to have left the deep thinkers behind in the past and haven't been in the discourse with them enough to avoid reinventing the wheel on these topics. aquinas, suma theologica, now that's a fine place to begin. the work is a midway point between the age where classic philosophy melded with the revelatory gift of the jews and Christianity and the age of modern philosophy and the emergent world of post modern whatever it is - neo-paganism, actually ... that word is just off. who was that guy who used the term: neo- ... and my mind has gone completely blank...
never let a tired guy blog about tv, theology, debates, and ...
you know how this is don't you?
i'll click publish and the word and the name will come to me...
so, i stall, not knowing... ah..... memory.
neo-gnosticism - that's part of the memory cookie i was hungering for ... and the milk would be...
again, publisphobia strikes ... that, i'll remember the guy's name ... stuffy old dude ... oh...
maybe something's are left best unseen.
