zotspot ... paid to search and give a portion to charity

zotspot paid search yeah, i actually signed up for a "paid to search" search engine. zotspot! i think it might have been the "charity" idea that drew me in and had me actually say, "let's test this puppy out." i just opened the account - so i have some questions and thoughts ... i'll save them for a follow up post in a week.

among them are:

• any charity? or just a pre-selection?
• how useful are the search results? i mean that's the bottom line in my book.

there's probably more?

• am i listed? i think it would be gaming the system - i don't even know that - to offer a pre-searched link or two in a blog post.

much to look at ... but an interesting concept ... so, i thought to give it a whirl ... and yes ... if you want to come along ... click my link because referrals do work in their pay system. it doesn't hurt or take away from you to be referred - so if you're inclined or curious as i am ... then here we go.

the whole charity angle seems like it might be something really useful for an org - one with a number of members ... a fundraising idea for churches, civic groups, or just shared causes of a like minded nature ... like i said, i don't know much abuot that ... thus endeth post one on zotspot search.

so, i woke up this morning singing, "baby baby don't get hooked on me..." that's probably about all i know and i don't know who did the song or who wrote it ... but my instincts tell me that mac davis wrote it. now, i haven't searched, googled, clustied, nor anything'd yet ... even at this moment i do not know.

so, why the title? because i bet mac davis has written ten songs that people probably might or should know. it's a guess ... and i am about to open google and discover with a search the answers to the above questions?

first result returned this comment - no answers (actually the answer was on the results page ... i just clicked this link for some reason):

the results offered mac davis, nat stuckey, allman brothers band, rascal flats, maybe a few more...

seems mac davis could very well be the writer and original singer - nothing with dates ... nothing seemingly certain.

i did find that it was listed on drudge as one of the worst lyrics in pop history ???

not sure if it is or not ... there's too many great horrible lyrics, "she ran calling wildfire..." probably that song alone has enough within itself :-)

2. who wrote "baby baby... on me"?

seems it was mac davis - original singer and author ... though the page i found was, "as sung by mac davis" and appears to give author credits to the song. and in the results i notice - conway did a cover as well. not the question but ... oh, conway twitty for those who don't just know him as conway ... funny how many covers there probably have been of this song.

and this seems to clinch mac davis as the writer and singer - and apparently the covers have varied lyrics ... just a guess.

3. ten songs written by mac davis.

and now a search for the top 10 songs written by mac davis - fingers crossed ... click ... wait!!!

hmmm, maybe top ten is a bit of an overstatement - before i look i probably should suggest that i am going to try and find 10 known songs or well known songs by mac davis - now ... click:

vain ain't it? actually, it's been a while since i looked myself up in search results and if it hadn't been for a google alert about some page with a pic of some dude using the same name ... i'd have thought nothing of looking again.

wow, the results are quite varied as of this writing ... last time all i found were similar to almost identical results. this tells me that there has come a change between these searches and their ranking and algoreythms (sp?) :0).

anyway, i do love the good old vanity search ... like anyone else. i suppose this kills my pagerank or whatever ... but who cares ... to me a blog is for fun and i like to introduce some new things (searches, etc., from time to time). not many new in this post - if any that i see.

however, all of these searches were done at one place: turboscout - you should use it too. let me repeat the link:

the sadder thing about all of this is that people keep doing it ... sending sp@m out because it works ... or else they wouldn't do it. that means that out of the millions of jonk emails sent ... there's huge numbers of people who do open them and do buy the products. amazingly stupid ... but apparently true.

sorry for the lame post ... i meant to add more ... but i grew weary of the process.

ok, it's confession time about odd things people do on the internet. i'll go first, how many of you use google as a spell checker?

think about it, i have a spell checker in the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) editor native to blogger - i never use it. instead, i open google in a tab and spell check by pasting in my questionable spelling of a word.

example, in this post, i wrote: "tryptophan (sp???)" and was too lazy to check and see if my spelling was right. let's see: tryptophan and the answer is... yes, i had spelled it correctly.

with the use of the typo generator - let's try a few (as in not too many) spell checks ala google and see what we get.

if you look closely at the bottom of my blog, there's a text that read, "mist blowers most bloggers? did you mean: mostbloggers" which i put there as a "test" to see if searching "mostbloggers in google might stop suggesting 'mistblowes'. i will try them both ... like, now:

an update on the traffic exchange game (part 1.1)

well, i am still doing some sneaking around the old traffic exchanges - getting ready for part two of my series: the traffic exchange game. if you missed part one - well, then click here.

i've signed up for two new (up and comers) in the traffic exchane world - i have one more to sign up for from mybloglog.com - i'll post on that when i do.

anyway, i need some fellow testers (or if you really are hard core traffic exchange savvy) to come with me on the following two:

i need 8 more people to sign up under me for the following traffic exchange. it's actually quite good - all i want is 10 people in my downline on these two ... just to see if the stats pay out like they claim.
