dolls for the hitlerWhile driving home from taking some people to the airport - i was listening to the brilliantly revived WAKY (n0w FM) radio station in Louisville, KY. If you don't know WAKY - it was one of the top secondary market radio stations that took off where The Wolfman began - and revolutionized radio beginning in 1958 and running high through the 60's and 70's - and eventually losing the AM world of Rock domination to the FM world. People just look at me funny when i tell them that once it was uncool to be considered an FM artist - but such is true. The big money and payola was flowing through the gadgets which came standard in cars ... AM radios.
Anyway, if you haven't heard the news - there's some outrage over the current news that some company in Ukraine is making an Adolf Hitler Doll - read it for yourself:
The DJ on WAKY did this newsbit between songs - with the best joke i've heard about the doll so far:
"A Ukrainian toy manufacturer is reportedly marketing an Adolf Hitler doll. And France is preparing to surrender!"
Dang, that's classic radio and an excellent joke.
Sorry for all the extra - and i happen to like France's new President - a lot. He recently told someone (a reporter i think) in a crowd who was offended by being simply touched by the president and said, "...you dirtied me!" to which Sarkozy replied:
"Casse-toi alors, pauvre con, va," he said, a phrase whose mildest translation is: "Then get out of here, you total jerk."
I kinda love the guy now :-)

i personally grew up with WQXI - the station that WKRP was modelled after - in the Atlanta area ... i'll have to search for some good QXI stuff out there for a later post.
and remember ... just say not to Hitler Dolls.

Prominent European media outlets recently circulated false reports of an Adolf Hitler doll being made in Ukraine. Ukrainian journalist Yevgeny Minko said he was disappointed with how the erroneous story was handled.
DW-WORLD.DE was among the European media sources to publish the falsified report on its English site in April 2008. It has since been removed from the Web site. The editors apologize to those readers who were offended by the publication of the article.
