All night at work, i had this Larry Norman song (the bridge of the song actually), running through my head. i kept walking around singing it and when i'd pause it would play in my mind on the "brain muzak" that i came equipped with. i'll not ramble about that too much ... but, i used to think everyone went around with music in their head all the time ... i didn't know that not everybody does ... so anyway (as they say)...
i thought i'd share the lyrics of this song (just this bridge part) as i find them to be a very well written and crafted bit of verse and song.
from Larry Norman's "Soul Survivor"
i'm trying so hard to forget my painyou can hear most of it here: http://songza.com/z/5dt998
and leave my past behind
but when your life is suddenly filled with rain
you keep remembering how the sun used to shine
and i can't stand the loneliness the constant emptiness
why has unhappiness come into my life
i spend my mornings waking and thinking
and cry my evenings late into the night
Pity i cannot find the full song online to share. It comes from Larry Norman's classic album "So Long Ago the Garden" which is one of the best broken relationship collection of songs that also explores the human condition with such a soft hand that it's deeper insights tend to sneak up on you over time while listening and / or pondering these great songs.
Here are a couple more snippets from "Garden" by Larry Norman:
Lonely By Myself - http://songza.com/z/7nteqr
Baroquen Spirits - http://songza.com/z/ykqzim

Bruce Cockburn's "Human's" is another fantastic relationship album - exploring those broken places ... many songs being all too "human" reflecting in one way or another his divorce.
a couple of snippet song links from "Humans"
You Get Bigger as You Go : http://songza.com/z/uer5ml
Fascist Architecture : http://songza.com/z/r3fhsx
i wish i could find my favorite song from that album to share - even a bit - "Tokoyo" - if you find it -- well, i hope you like it as much as i do. "What About the Bond" is another great tune ... i love every track on "Humans" so i am biased.
Fascist Architecture (above) is a brilliant song - comparing those gaudy Fascist Mussolini buildings in Italy to one's own personal constructions ... anyway, i'll not spoil the depth of the song by explaining too much ... it's better to listen and "get it" over time ... as good music like this keeps on giving the deeper u go.
one more song:
it's a pity one cannot easily find songs to post - with "sale" links so that the artists could get benefit from blog and web exposure.
another little thing that would be cool would be if search results showed songs in them the way youtube videos are shown on google - just a little "expand this" link where songs are in a blog post.
oh well.
the two albums and songs listed above are two of the most searching albums concerning relationships, fallen, broken, struggling, living, etc., that have ever been made, IMHO. Well worth searching for ...
Funny thing is ... I'm fine, my relationships are all running as smoothly as humanly possible ... maybe it's just this moody rainy day and night weather ... maybe i just like songs about human things ... like life, love and yes, even broken love songs.
