Mostbloggers - Banned by Google and in over 150 countries...

...Well, maybe banned in over 150 countries - i don't know fer sure. not even sure why mostbloggers has been banned by google.

i am not scratching my head nor losing any sleep over the matter at the moment - i've noticed this for sometime now ... without much concern. i have played with just about everything on the web - changed the name of my site from "mostbloggers isp blog" to simply "mostbloggers" and a host of other things (i suppose).

but, this does give me a chance to show off how wonderful google's blog search is about weeding out spam blogs - those seedy little blogs that harvest snippets of posts from searches and autopost them - usually with google ads on each page.

well, before i send you on a search - amazingly mostbloggers has suddenly appeared in the google blog search results (it wasn't there 2 days ago).

let's have those results first: mostbloggers by relevance and mostbloggers by date

now, my blog "mostbloggers" has over 550 (or there abouts) original hand crafted self typed plain old blog posts created by amos dettonville - aka me. you'll find 16 results from 2005 being the only one's left in their results (maybe there needs to be a purge).

stunning results eh? wait until you see how clean google blog search results are - especially with these wonderful spam blogs:

google blog search results for mostbloggers turns up a great many slogs - though some of my dormant blogs show up as well ...

now, just for fun - google blog search results for mostbloggers sorted by date!

some results don't even have the word, "mostbloggers" on the target page ... not even hidden.

some are just strange blogs ... no reason nor rhyme.

some just don't load ... the pages don't exist.

oh well, i'll be doing some more banned by google fun ... i never dreamed i'd be so honored.

think i'll ping google blog search before i post this ... maybe we'll all be amazed :-)

Pinging Google Blog Search!

who knows ... maybe mostbloggers will be all over the place before you read this post ... holding your breath not do you.

Killshot Kabuki - Obama Denounces Rev Wright

obama's killshot kabuki

In a New York Times profile of the Obama-Wright relationship in April 2007, Wright himself predicted such a split based on the controversial remarks that were already under some scrutiny. “If Barack gets past the primary, he might have to publicly distance himself from me,” Wright told the paper over a year ago. “I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen.” CBS
Well, i find it odd that just last week i heard people saying that Obama was probably going to have to formally cut his ties and distance himself dramatically from his pastor of 20 years - the Reverend Wright.

If this was not a "performance" on Wright's part - taking one hard for Obama by speaking his mind loudly and pointedly at a recent appearance in Washington at the national press club - then it was one of the best timed coincidences in political history. Either way, i tend to call this "The Killshot Kabuki" - a piece of well fashioned theater (masks and all) that gave Obama the chance to make a break from the words and posturing of Wright ... something Obama's brilliant speech earlier in Philadelphia was unable to accomplish.

It's a gutsy play - that had to come if Obama held any hope of getting past this huge drag on his candidacy.

The major problem is - this doesn't really take away the huge problem with the Rev Wright issue. Honestly, Obama's speech in Philly was plenty to get past this - if it had only been about some loose associate of Obama's making racist comments and irresponsible rants. The problem is and remains - in my eyes - that Obama's claims of not knowing about such positions held by his pastor of 20 years - positions now spelled out clearly by both Wright and Obama - stretches credulity.

The problem has never been that people like Rev Wright exist and hold such views. It has really not been (for me at least) that Obama knew or knows people who hold such views. It has been an issue that Obama sought and chose to associate, not only himself, but his children and family for years in a community that not only was led by a pastor espousing racist views such as these - but a community which obviously champions and cheers on such views - loudly.

Either Obama's discernment is so poor that he cannot realize the types of people he associates himself with - or Obama's judgment is so weak that he has willfully chosen to remain a part of a racist community and to sit under the teaching of a conspiracy theory promoting, racist pastor for so long without making any sound choices on the matter.

There is always the third option - that Obama is really quite comfortable with the thoughts and positions of Wright - and is now just play acting to become President. i doubt the third option is fully true.

But, who knows - Obama is eloquent - something i have only come to accept. Let me explain - i've been listening to him for about a year now - and in the beginning he spoke in two very distinct voices with two different vocal patterns. One sound was heard in black churches and before largely black audiences. The other voice was heard on television interviews, speeches before mixed groups, and in the early debates.

When Obama found his current voice, with it's rhythm and meter - i took it as another affectation - an act of sorts. Listen, i was probably right to have noticed it - but wrong to have been put off by it. Everyone who speaks in public has a "speaking voice" of one sort or another. i myself speak before people - and we all use the tool of the voice to meet the circumstance. Speaking to a crowd is not speaking to a small group and certainly is not speaking one on one or to a few people around the dinner table. i think i simply wasn't used to hearing a public person discover their voice while on the campaign trail - going from a beginner with charm - to a bright spark with a strong and winning delivery so quickly. Obama certainly has found his voice.

Next however, comes the content - and that will be something he could either amaze or fail at miserably. Up to now, Obama has been the empty speaker - saying things in such a way and presenting himself in such a way so that it appears people paint onto him what they wish to hear (for good or for bad). Obama has left the safe place of attempting to nuance himself around Reverend Wright - now maybe he should take that debate with Hillary? Maybe he shouldn't - she might clean his clock - because one thing Hillary will not be afraid to do - is to speak plainly about her positions and her proposals - well, as plainly and specifically as one can prior to the general election.

Killshot Kabuki - i doubt it will bury the Wright issue - but it will help. The Clinton's are masters at understanding the press cycle - two weeks tops. I have seen the Clinton's do the bold dance with heavy hands - the controlled burn if you will - knowing that in 1 - 2 weeks the issue will die out of the news cycle and out of the sight and thus mind of the American public.

However, they're also wise at weighing the cost of such moves. Hillary says, "Obama hasn't done enough spade work..." prior to a Carolina primary. More little racial blurbs and barbs are ever so gently thrown about - Obama shows up dressed in Muslim gear - you know the drill.

Two weeks and it's gone from the MSM and the American mind. But, was the cost worth it? I suspect the Clinton Machine knows it was worth it - because they weren't aiming at the general population. They were solidifying the votes against Obama among those who might be racist, fearful of electing a "Hussien" anybody after 911, etc. The minimal damage of a bad two week run of news is not to be compared to the vast numbers of shored up votes.

Killshot Kabuki doesn't appear to be quite as wise ... Hillary will smell blood in the water on this one ... only a nod and a suggestion is all she needs to shoot this target successfully. Now, she can move on to painting Obama as the Leftist.

i've already said that IMHO Obama is a Leftist - Hillary doesn't even have to go center if she can paint this picture of Obama. All she'll need is a few head fakes to the center if she goes this route.

i think we actually are about to see some hardball politics in America - mostly on the Dem side for the time being. McCain - they'll count on him making a missed step here and there and keep the anti-Bush (where it crosses McCain) noise up.

i got some McCain jabs coming soon as well ... though full disclosure ... I picked him to be the President of the US back in early November 2007. My reasoning then, the US doesn't elect senators. We tend to elect governors and war heroes. That's kinda when the light bulb snapped on above my head ... hey, McCain's a war hero!!!

now, i've just warmed to the idea.

Hillary's worse than Obama on the Oil Gags - maybe?

not going to take this blog all political - but then again - rants will happen from time to time and reactions as well.

as i noted in my last post - Kentucky is a bit late in getting the political ads during this primary season. the last post was obama gone wacky on oil and tonight i got to see the hillary clinton ad on the same topic. oh, my - obama may not look sane in comparison between the two ads - but he does come of as being maybe just dangerous. hillary comes off as looking dangerous with an evil will.

this hillary ad contained the same kinda word choices used in 2 bill clinton campaigns, 1 al gore campaign, and 1 john kerry campaign. obviously market tested jargon which projects an image of strength on the candidates part to do battle against the windmills and strawmen which they have suspended in mid air as the boogeys of our times. in this case, it's the obvious "pain at the pump" and let's stick it to "big oil" massage (spelled as i intended it) message.

you'll recognize the words - uber strong sounding like, "fight" and "kill" and "take" and "make" and all. listen for them - you'll be surprised.

obama wants "them" to "pay a penalty" for profits - yeah - brilliant!!! actually, he has just described how government taxation and interference for the sake of fattening the government coffers - supposedly to "help" us - is always a bucket of cold water thrown on the fire of any business - small or big. the government that thinks profit and success should be "penalized" is the government that wants the money, wants to slow down production, and wants to kill the marketplace (or seriously hamstring it).

but, hillary is even better than obama - she's robin hood - who's gonna take from the "big oil" - just plain "take those windfall profits and use them!!!"

"The other day the oil companies recorded the highest profits in the history of the world. I want to take those profits. And I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy, alternatives and technologies that will actually begin to move us in the direction of independence.
http://newsbusters.org/node/10580
i couldn't find the ad - but here's the exact same words in video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1PfE9K8j0g

excuse me - i do not want a federal government that "takes" from businesses, from people, from the citizens.

wow, thanks for making the choice clear here - we can have one candidate that wants to penalize profits - windfall profits - i know. we have another candidate that wants to "take" those profits - which i can only think means the same thing as my neighbor wanting to "take" my car - it's called stealing.

so, obama wants to penalize wealth creation and hilary wants to steal the wealth.

and both know better than we do about how to use this money to change our lives!!!

"besides," we say, "it's big oil's money they're talking about - isn't it?"

it's not my money and they can do a lot of good with that money - you know governments are well known for being the most efficient and productive with money and problem solving. yeah.

all that money that big oil swallows up - you know it just vanishes into some rich person's world - one we cannot buy a ticket to.

doesn't it? i mean, surely it doesn't go into that thing we call the "economy"? how could that happen.

listen, without a true moral authority we are left with 1 of 3 choices:

  • anarchy - everyone doing as they please (bonk)
  • the dictatorship of 51% - because the majority is always right (bonk)
  • the rule of the elites - the learned, the governors, the philosopher kings (and queens), the committee who knows better than us how to proceed. (bonk)
in just two ads - hilary and obama have just told me that they opt for the third option.

that third option is un-American.

our constitution is a much more brilliant document than that ... avoiding brilliantly all 3 of the mistakes above - while preserving those bits of truth and good that can be found within each of the 3 options above - freedom, representation, and leadership.

we don't need to reinvent the wheel - not even in times of high gas prices.

obama goes wacky ... a penalty for windfall profits?!!!

"Pay a penalty for windfall profits"

Kentucky is late in the game when it comes to primary elections - so we're late at getting the ads. i'll pick on anyone from any candidate that i find something to pick at. i am no fan of obama - who is not a liberal - he's a leftist IMHO. so, i am right out front with my opinion of the man - just to make things clear from the starting gate.

Gas prices are horrid ... i'll agree with everyone on that ... but anytime i hear anyone attach the word "Big" to an industry - my crap detector starts ringing. Compaines work to become "Big" and anytime an industry is making money - the people down the chain are making money as well. i am not saying that industries cannot get top heavy - they do - but they won't stay that way ... not in the marketplace. now, one industry which will get top heavy (the money collects at the top) and doesn't have market forces working upon it - would be governments. when governments get top heavy - it takes a huge amount of energy to bring about any force that will effect a change to the ever hungry government mochine (spelled as i wanted to spell it).

fact check .org has a piece on this obama ad about "big oil" - you can read that for yourself.

here's the script from an earlier version of this ad - very similar to the one i heard:

Since the gas lines of the ’70’s, Democrats and Republicans have talked about energy independence, but nothing’s changed — except now Exxon’s making $40 billion a year, and we’re paying $3.50 for gas.

I’m Barack Obama. I don’t take money from oil companies or Washington lobbyists, and I won’t let them block change anymore. They’ll pay a penalty on windfall profits. We’ll invest in alternative energy, create jobs and free ourselves from foreign oil.

I approve this message because it’s time that Washington worked for you. Not them.
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/28/obamas-big-oil-ad-draws-fire/
this brings up another pet peeve of mine ... when the candidate is the one speaking in the ad - why do they need to say anything like, "I approve this message...."?????

it makes no sense - they're the one speaking ... of course they approve of their ads. duh?

a penalty on windfall profits?!!! that's wacky crazy talk!!!! this has been done before to oil companies - it doesn't change the price of oil - or the cost at the pump - and actually would increase the cost of gas (if one thinks about it - companies don't pay taxes - excise type taxes like this - they have to put it into the cost of the product). to tax a company for market changes which profit a company is stupid - and not corrective. it also has proved not to increase the revenue to the "government" as much as people would think (wikipedia's decent take on this).

The Congressional Research Service has analysed that the windfall profit tax brought in $80 billion in extra revenues for the United States government, which was far less than the projected $393 billion. Also, domestic oil production by oil producers was said to be lowered. (source)
the only industry which stands to profit from such odd actions as described by obama would be the government. politicians of all stripes get stupid when a great deal of money is floating around anywhere.

Americans live in a country where we cannot build nuclear power plants (like the gen 5 plants that consume their own waste); a country where we haven't built new refineries in decades; a country that doesn't drill for its own oil - even though we have it in abundance; a country that seems daily to buy into the carbon emissions rationale for the climate shifts and changes which have been stuffed into a sack named "global warming" - which when i was a kid was going to be "global cooling" - come on? it's weather forecasting ... tell me how much you trust the weather forecast? how often are they right? shouldn't we at least bring the healthy skepticism we hold towards our local weather chica or guy to the prophets of global doom (minus the sandwich boards) that chrip like chicken littles "the sky is falling" ... er ummm "the earth is warming!"

i've wandered into side territory ... excuse me for that...

obama's ad is one aimed at "the pain at the pump" everyone feels - with the exception of my family - we cut it down to one economy car and walking 2 years ago - because - hey, we ain't rich.

it's almost always an appeal to emotion (maybe it always is an appeal to emotion) to call for sticking it to the "big insert industry name here" and it appeals not to reasoned thought - no matter how big the issue of the times. to simply do a "I'll stick it to them" and "not you" kind of message is an "us vs them" mentality that never wins anything in real time - but maybe some bucks for the government (and never as much as the government wants - ever).

Big Cats in Kentucky ... a recent sighting

well, i've been hearing these tales since 1998 - which began when my wife (then girlfriend) was on the phone with me. she asked, "How big is a wild cat?" I told her and described the bobtailed critters which are often lumped together as wildcats. she responded, "...no, this one has a long tail..." "This one," I said?!

"Yes, there's one climbing over the fence in the backyard, it's as long, ... well, with it's tail, it's longer than the fence is tall?"

"...and what color is it?"

"Gray, it's definately gray, with a long tail and it's as big as a large dog, maybe longer, but huge...."

thus began my interest in the idea that some "pets" had escaped and had been breeding in Kentucky. the interesting thing is - where she was calling from was one of the richest neighborhoods in kentucky - just outside (now inside) of louisville.

my sighting wasn't as spectacular - a barking dog - a walk around to some nearby woods only to see the long gray tail of a cat dissappear down a path. i didn't rush towards the thing - but sought to catch the dog i was walking and hold him - to keep him from his path down that trail. the ground hard and dry - no footprints - but dogs barking off in the direction this "thing" went.

i don't know what i saw ... i do know it was a cats tail and that it was huge - and i was only about 15 feet away.

my years working at night driving down the roads of kentucky - led me to begin asking truckers, travelers, others out and about in the night if they had seen such animals. and over time i gathered many accounts of people seeing large gray cats.

just last night, on my current vampire shift job, a co-worker called me on the radio and said, "I just saw a big cat - big as a german shepherd." i took off running - dry ground - no signs. much hunting about ... curses foiled again.

i must confess - i'd go on a bigfoot hunt - even though by nature i am sketical of - well just about everything - my love for the outdoors and mysteries would take me off on these wild (if not crazy) trips.

i will tell you that a person working for the forestry service in this state has told me that these cats exist - though not so near louisville. however, they are solitary creatures and cover long distances - and we have deer in our backyard and other cool things all the time wandering around this place.

i have come to the conclusion that i will continue to call these kentucky cats of myth - "puma's" though i think that if they really do exist they are most likely Jaguarundi
- gray and are sometimes called puma jaguarundi. i honestly do not know - what these cats are - but people often make mistakes in size of things they see - so the larger cat seems unlikely until something more than "word of mouth" has been found.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguarundi
http://www.bigcatrescue.org/jaguarundi.htm
http://www.bigcatrescue.org/sound/listen/Jaguarundi.wav (listen)

if anyone else has seen or heard of such - leave me a comment or write an email - my address is in the sidebar.

anyway - i had fun last night running around with a spotlight - probably chasing a coyote or something ... but maybe ... just maybe ... there are big cats in kentucky.

here's a great link - with some images (even a mention of kentucky people knowing about these big cats) - the video is from alabama - and it's not a jaguarundi - my theory on that may go out the window quick - but i'll hold it for now.

http://www.cryptozoology.com/forum/topic_view_thread.php?tid=3&pid=521117

here's the video - what the heck:

and the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhUE58vV2Ws

you'll still want to visit the thread linked above for the kentucky angle.

i do not think these are under the classification - "big cats" - nor do i think they growl - because the sounds reported have never been growls - but more the hiss and the loud purr and a type of scream or cry.

who knows ... i just love wildlife.

btw, my brook fish are back - i have no idea where they go in winter? i suppose under the rocks - because... i'll save this one for later.

blinklist - social bookmarking sites get warning label from google

seriously, i just picked blinklist - but there's more of them out there. google's nifty little warning - "This site may harm your computer." - will come up under several searches for social bookmarking sites such as blinklist.

here's the blinklist example: The Search On Google: Malware (hey it's an easy one) and then the result will lead you to this page: Warning!

When actually, you'd be going to a fairly harmless page in itself: http://www.blinklist.com/tag/malware/ - which google will not take you to - you'll have to copy and paste to get in.

granted, links on this page will include the sort you'd not want to visit - because they include user added sites which promote downloads which contain malware.

however, enter the irony...

google's warning page is based upon StopBadware.org - and the blinklist page above happens to list what page? yep, you guessed it: StopBadware.org

so, this attempt at "nice" by google ends up being a page which associates StopBadware.org as being among those sites which google applies the warning: "This site may harm your computer."

i am not sure how in the world (or how on earth - just to be redundant) this step by google doesn't end up putting many web site results in "a bad neighborhood"?

sure, StopBadware.org isn't going to be tarred nor hurt by that association (i don't think) but blogs such as my own - smaller ranked sites - who knows??? all of these sites might end up as guilty by a google results association.

there probably should be more noise out there about this ... all i keep getting are nice articles about google's move when i search ... but i see this as brrrrrr - chilling somehow.

maybe this needs a re-think? me thinks.

The Hawaii Chair - ellen, the infomercial, more maybe

roll to the left

ellen on the hawaii chair ...

some youtube links:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_amg-Aos4
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDxk3u0xwVE

yes, it's real: hawaiichair.com (i think?)

and more?

well, i want to take this further - hawaii chair in a car. put one on a boat? why not replace all the seats in a fashionable restuarant (sp?) or even mcdonalds? how about suitable attire that could shake the workout world on it's ear - like hula-skirt workout gear and clothes? on a motorcycle? little ones for chickens?

put them in barber shops and hair salons and maybe even at toll booths.

hula's good - belly dancing's better - how about the belly dancing chair? the indian (oops native american) hoop dance chair? the roller coaster chair? the pogo chair?

wanna go sick? maybe not ... the electric hawaii chair? i'll stop there ... i could go sicker ... say taking the matter into the medical world ... but, the idea of the whole hawaii childbirthing craze ... it scares me too much.

combine the thigh master with the hawaii chair - you almost have a ride - shape the cusion like a pony and you could get quarters from kids outside stores ... or people riding the thing in texas bars...

enough.

If I Were a Singer - Larry Norman (great song)

cool pic of larry
so, i've spent time doing the youtube viewing of the latest larry norman vids out there ... lots of cool ones too ... some fan tributes - not all of them technically beautiful - but that's what a fan vid is ... humanized and excellent for that very reason. some are pretty tight - and that's excellent too.

which one to post?

that's a hard one - but i found this one made in Indy USA of larry doing "If I Were a Singer" - the one he wrote with Steve Camp (or for Steve Camp - it matters not). this was just after 911 in 2001 - and the song is fitting in many ways to those moments - the old tough faced larry delivery is on this tune as well. there's a baby crying in the background. that should have been irritating - however, if you follow the lyrics, "... these are troubled days, I want to live my life in a special way...." well, IMHO the crying baby fits the whole tenor of the tune.

have i written enough? you can watch the video yourself right here:

the view from my kentucky home - wild foxes

what a fox!!!

one of the things i love about my home in ky has got to be the wildlife i get to see in suburbia (and even in the urban areas). but, my home is the stomping grounds to a good many critters that stop by in the evening and night shift hours. plus, my job is on the vampire shift - and i get to see a bunch of cool animals out on the prowl there as well.

tonight's treat was the gray fox ... just the forager who loves the human world because of the abundance of food (ie. trash) and plenty of good old goodies that humans also attract (mice, worms, bugs, fruit, etc,), that make up good eats for foxy little night roamers.

now, we mostly see either red foxes (of the non-sanford and son ilk) and gray foxes in the ville. you can usually tell the difference only by the tail (and not the color of the fur surprisingly). red foxes, more often than not, will have a white tip or light colored tip on their tail. they might be red or gray or moddled - and still be a red fox if their tail is tipped in white. the grays usually do not have this marking.

anyway, i usually don't use such a large image with my posts - but it's the better of the gray fox pics i found and i am too lazy to resize the puppy - so enjoy. i'll put an odd link with it.

the picture below ( you'll have to visit the post on my blog if you're a subscriber by some email programs - though most should show it - and on some sites which pick up this feed - but don't do a good job of adding format to feeds - cough http://projectopus.com ) is a happened upon picture of howard dean - too funny not to snarf and post it. enjoy as well - i'll link it somewhere interesting too.

ararrrrrrgh kitty!!!

and no... no i did not see megan fox (from transformers the movie) in my yard tonight... again, aside from finding fox news, fox tvs stations, fox radio stations and the odd howard dean pic - megan fox seemed to turn up a bit too in my search for fox pics.

the car picks the chick (sorry if i spoiled the movie for you)

anyway, transformers had some great actors in the flick - that josh ??? dude from vegas was in there - this fox chica was decent as well. a sequel would be good - something was missing from the first movie ... not plot (the plot was decent) and come on, it's what i call "a roller coaster ride movie" it's supposed to be fun (and it got there several times). to me, it was something in the exposition or the way it was done ... too much to tell maybe in a short space. the art of story telling is 1) learning what not to say and 2) saying the most with the least amount of effort while not losing the hearer ... there's more - but IMHO - it was somewhere in those two points that the movie got lost. plus, you got these awesome GI-Joe and GI-Jane characters - and they somehow got lost in the story... somehow.

but, this is not a movie post ... i got more critters in my backyard from time to time ... some wild life kentucky animals who party the night away around these parts ... i'll be sure to capture some and share them here from time to time.

remember - photos are linked to different things sometimes...
